Remarkably good...XTERRA WORLD TOUR - AUSTRIA 2008 World Tour & XTERRA AUSTRIAN CROSS CUP, August 22nd - 23rd 2008 
"XTERRA Offroad Triathlon" the hardest competition in Austria! XTERRA is the brand name for a cross triathlon or off-road triathlon, comparable with the brand Ironman for long distance triathlon.The first XTERRA took place in 1996 in Maui (Hawaii). Contrary to an Ironman, during an XTERRA championship the athletes are more exposed to the elements.
Compared with the classic triathlon there is no difference in the swimming competition. With the bike however, you have to clear 1500 meters altitude difference with extreme increases and hair-raising downhill runs. The cross-run is also taking place in a terrain full of barriers.
XTERRA developed fast and is today one of the fastest growing sport events in the world. In 2006, 150 XTERRA events with 30.000 participants took place worldwide.
XTERRA triathlons take place in Austria since 2004, starting in St. Kanzian/Lake Klopein in 2007.
Through XTERRA Austria, a competition of the XTERRA World-Tour, Klopeiner See is getting an international event, where the world’s best XTERRA athletes are fighting over 36 slots for the World Championship and € 15.000 prize money.
Moreover, there will be XTERRA Light, a triathlon with a shorter and loser route, XTERRA Kids and XTERRA Company. Therefore everybody, from kid to senior, can have a look at the world of XTERRA .
For the athletes XTERRA is not only a trend sport, but also a “way of life” and all of them have something in common: the need for adrenalin, adventure and fun. | |
